"Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Sculpture"

Near the 3rd St. edge of the park is a statue of Martin Luther King, Jr. The inscription calls him one "who dared to make the American dream of freedom a reality." King came to Charlotte in 1963 and spoke with high school students about the push for desegregation.
