Finding Primary Sources in the Humanities

Research Methods Primary Sources

One resource that is a good starting point for learning about how to locate and analyze primary sources is Research Methods Primary Sources. This tool, newly acquired by UNCG University Libraries, offers an introduction into finding, selecting, and using primary sources in humanities and social science disciplines. It offers hundreds of essays, how-to guides, videos, and case studies by subject specialists to help guide and teach students how to approach and analyze primary sources.

Materials are organized into three pillars. These are 1) learning tools to help you understand the methodology of researching with primary sources, 2) case studies to help you hone your research skills, and 3) practice sources to let you put the lessons you learned from learning tools and case studies into practice with over 300 digitized historical items from 50 archives around the world.

If you want to learn more about how you can use and analyze primary sources, Research Methods Primary Sources should be a go to resource for you.
