The Music Research Guide Databases & More page includes a box with different tabs to help you figure out what kind of resource you might want to explore.

  • The “Performing Arts Databases” tab includes databases that focus on Music, Dance, and Theatre.
  • The “Other Online Performing Arts Collections” includes links to digital collections of music, scores, primary sources, and other music-related resources.
  • Other universities and libraries have also created some great Research Guides for Music, Dance, and Theatre, and the “Other Research Guides” tab lists some of them. For example, the New York Public Library has created Research Guides on how to access their Music, Dance, and Theatre resources if you’re researching from home.
  • Many dissertations are archived and available online, so look in the “Dissertations” tab to see if you can find somebody else’s research to support your own.
  • The “General Resources” tab includes links to history, education, psychology, and other humanities databases that could support your research, because music isn’t a subject that exists cut off from other areas of study.
