Research is a Process

How do we do research in an academic context?

Our library research tutorial is all about helping you answer this question. In other modules, you’ll learn about finding and using book sources, academic journal articles, magazine and news content, and much more. For now, it’s most important to know that academic research is an iterative process. Unlike a quick Google-able question (like when was the movie Casablanca released?), answering academic research questions usually involves lots of steps, and there’s rarely a straight line from start to finish. As you engage in research, you learn, and in the process of learning, you usually come up with more questions. These questions might lead you down paths you didn’t anticipate initially, and sometimes they send you back to the beginning to rethink your initial research question.
