Picking and Developing a Topic

Changing your Topic

What if you’ve chosen a topic for your research project and it turns out that you can’t find enough information on the subject? This is a common thing in searching, and it’s okay!

If you decide that you want to change or modify your topic, you need to let your professor know as soon as possible. Most of the time if you ask to make a change early enough in the semester, it will not present a problem. This is why it’s important to start looking for information and developing a topic as soon as possible. If you wait until the last minute, it may be too late to make a change. Do not assume that your professor is okay with the change - always ask!
